The Ladies of Marvel Are Advocating for an All-Female Film
Our Captain Marvel star, Brie Larson, discussed in a recent interview with Variety how she and other female Marvel cast members approached Kevin Feige about an all-female Marvel mashup film. It’s no secret that the women of the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) deserve a lot more recognition for their insanely talented skills as heroic characters and simply, as actors in the entertainment industry. It was such a refreshing and liberating experience to witness Brie Larson portray a lead character such as Captain Marvel in the Marvel Universe. Women all over the world, raced to theatres to support our woman in power saving the world. It was a great step in the right direction but what about our other Marvel sisters? The Wasp, Shuri, Okoye, Gamora, Mantis, etc. We would love to see movies based on the stories of other characters that women can also relate to.
The movement for more female lead Marvel films is in motion with the Black Widow movie set to premiere May 1, 2020, and we can’t be more excited. But the question still remains, will we ever see an all-women Marvel mashup film?
Larson and a large portion of the female cast members from Marvel approached Feige about a possible mash-up. The women stuck together and were clear about how passionate and determined they are to make this film happen. Brie Larson assures her fans that the steps are being taken to hopefully make this amazing fantasy become a much-needed reality. How awesome would it be to see our favorite female superheroes fighting crime and uniting as leaders? We’d love to see it.
But for now, we are so looking forward to seeing Black Widow and Captain Marvel 2 hit the big screen. We haven’t gotten an update on the premiere date of Captain Marvel 2 just yet, but we’ll be sure to keep you posted.
