The musical follows a mother, Margaret Johnson (Renée Fleming), and her daughter, Clara (Dove Cameron), as they take a trip to the beautiful city of Florence, Italy in the summertime of 1953. While taking in the breathtaking city, Clara meets a mysterious and handsome young man, Fabrizio Naccarelli (Rob Houchen), pursuing his dreams and they instantly fall in love. However, Clara hides a family secret that will test their love.

Cameron carried her own as she starred opposite legend Reneé Fleming, known as one of America’s most outstanding sopranos and we cannot find the lie. In 2013, President Obama awarded Fleming the National Medal of Arts, she’s the winner of four Grammy Awards and has lent her voice for many outstanding events from the Nobel Peace Prize ceremony to the Diamond Jubilee Concert for Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace. Fleming’s performance was captivating as you were carried on the journey of a mother protecting her daughter’s heart. Cameron’s voice perfectly portrayed Clara’s character as you felt her innocence and naivety along with her strength to find normalcy in her very protected life living with a disability.
