Tune in for HBO Max’s ‘Grease’ Spin-Off
All hopelessly devoted “Grease” fans will be happy to hear about HBO’s new series.
It looks like HBO is going to bring the musical “Grease” back to our television screens. The network has issued a straight to series order for a new production titled “Grease: Rydell High.” We’ve all seen the whimsical romance of Danny and Sandy in the original film and now we get a more in-depth view of the high school sweethearts.
The show will feature new musical content but Sarah Aubrey, head of content at HBO Max, stated “It’s ‘Grease’ 2.0 but with the same spirit, energy, and excitement you immediately think of when you hear any of these iconic songs.”
We’re still hopelessly devoted to you… Our new musical series, #Grease: Rydell High is bringing back the rock’n’roll era with songs and characters you already know along with new originals. https://t.co/cwOlQh9FvW pic.twitter.com/cviQngpobO

This comes after the “Grease: Live” reimagining by Fox, and the news that HBO will be producing a prequel to the first movie “Grease,” showing the summer romance of Danny and Sandy.
The casting choices for the show have not been revealed yet, but it is clear that the actors are filling the shoes of Olivia Newton and John Travolta.
