Mariinsky Ballet and Orchestra Presents the Enchanting Story of La Bayadère at Segerstrom Center for the Arts

Get lost in the beauty and magic of the Mariinsky Ballet and Orchestra. 

Mariinsky Ballet and Orchestra is bringing the classic Russian story of La Bayadère to life this October in Costa Mesa at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts. Marius Petipa created La Bayadère for the Mariinsky more than 140 years ago and the story takes place in India and follows Nikiya, a temple dancer as she faces the betrayal of the warrior Solor and battles her arch-enemy Gamzatti. It is an intense dancing drama about finding love and seeking revenge.

The performance will also feature “Kingdom of the Shades”, a choreographed piece that will leave you breathless as white tutus float across the stage in perfect synchronicity. It has been said that “No company in the world dances the spellbinding “Kingdom of the Shades” scene in La Bayadère as brilliantly as Saint Petersburg’s Mariinsky Ballet.”
