Lauryn Hill to Release New Solo Song for ‘Queen & Slim’ Soundtrack

Lauryn Hill announced she will return with new music for her catalog on the soundtrack for the upcoming film Queen & Slim.

This will be Lauryn Hill’s first solo song in five years and it will be featured on The Queen & Slim movie soundtrack. While there are no details pertaining to the new track at the moment, the soundtrack is set to be released on Nov. 15, 2019, according to Motown who is producing the music. Artists such as Vince Staples, Megan Thee Stallion, and Blood Orange will appear on the soundtrack as well.

Director of the film, Melina Matsoukas, spoke about the inspiration for the film’s music, stating “I wanted the soundtrack for Queen & Slim to showcase the historical evolution of Black music, from its roots in blues and soul to modern bounce, hip hop, and R&B–much like we used to see in film soundtracks in the ’90s.” Lauryn Hill is perfect for the soundtrack considering all the inspiration she has given to the woman who came after her with hits like “Doo Wop (That Thang),”and “Everything is Everything.” Including her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill whose songs still receive millions of views on YouTube.

Outside of appearing on the Queen & Slim soundtrack, Lauryn Hill recently appeared on Pusha T’s Coming Home and is set to perform at Madrid’s Mad Cool Festival. With a suspenseful, action-filled plot and star-studded cast, we cannot wait to see what this film and sound track have to offer.
