‘Clueless’ the TV Series Gets Rebooted as a Teen Mystery by CBS TV Studios

Paramount Pictures

One of our most prized classics of the ’90s is getting a thrilling reboot with a major twist we didn’t see coming. In 1995, Clueless was released in theaters everywhere, setting the most iconic and well-known trends for over a decade now. The coming-of-age romantic comedy is based on a rich and somewhat shallow teenager Cher, played by Alicia Silverstone, who is considered the most popular girl in school. Cher navigates her way through high school with her best friend Dionne, played by Stacy Dash, as the girls consider themselves matchmakers by setting up their professors and helping out the new girl in school.

Stacy Dash posted a photo of her character Dionne asking, “I wonder what Dionne would be doing now?” and it looks like we are about to find out.

The Clueless film became such a hit that it was later turned into a TV series with three successful seasons, centered around Cher and her friends as they battle the trials of adolescence. The up-and-coming re-boot of this classic, which will be produced by CBS Television Studios, has an entirely new agenda. The series is based on Dionne, who is forced to solve the mysterious disappearance of her best friend Cher while taking on the pressures of being the most popular girl in school. The reboot will be written by Jordan Reddout and Gus Hickey and executive produced by Corinne Brinkerhoff, alongside Tiffany Grant and one of the film’s original producers, Robert Lawrence.

This new take on the original film is described as “Mean Girls meets Riverdale meets a Lizzo video, set in a high school that is uniquely 2020 L.A.”

Alicia Silverstone, who played Cher in the 1995 film, posted this sweet throwback of one of our favorite 90’s it-girls. This photo is the perfect representation of our mood for this upcoming reboot.

Hmmm, we wonder if the original cast will make a cameo appearance in the reboot? Back in March, Donald Faison who played Murray, Dionne’s boyfriend, posted a Clueless reunion photo at the Chicago Comic & Entertainment Expo.

The casting crew and release date haven’t been announced just yet, but you’re totally buggin’ if you’re not excited about this Clueless revival.
