The Duchess of Sussex has worked with the organization that offers young leaders a platform to share their ideas.

One Young World says, “(We are) the global forum for young leaders aged from every country and sector. The annual One Young World Summit brings together the brightest young makers from around the world, empowering them to make lasting connections and develop solutions to some of the world’s most pressing issues.” On Tuesday, Oct. 22, The Duchess attended the summit’s opening ceremony to continue to show her support of our world’s youth. Celebrated on the Royal Family’s Instagram account, Meghan is pictured at the organization’s past events.

The Duchess of Sussex will attend @OneYoungWorld opening ceremony this evening to continue her support for this amazing collective of global youth ambassadors. Her Royal Highness was a counsellor for OYW in Dublin in 2014 as well as in Ottawa in 2016. This evening she again joins world leaders and activists to celebrate the youth of today as they tackle some of the world’s greatest problems. She is proud to attend as Vice President of The Queens Commonwealth Trust and to continue her long-standing commitment to this very important summit. Later this week The Duchess will hold a round table discussion with several of the OYW young leaders to address the issue of gender equity worldwide, and how we can all play our part to reach equality for all. Ahead of the opening ceremony tonight, we take a look back at some photos and moments from HRH attending One Young World in the past. Meghan will be holding a round table discussion later this week with many of the One Young World leaders to pursue the issue of gender equality all over the world and how each and every one of us can play a part in ensuring that we reach equality for all. She has been a long-time advocate for gender equality.

Stated on the OYW website, her profile says, “At the age of 11, she wrote to Hillary Clinton and other high-profile figures about a soap advertisement, which Markle felt implied women belonged in the kitchen. As a result of her letter, the company was forced to alter its advertisement.” This month, in particular, is especially important, as Oct. 11 was the International #DayoftheGirl.

In a video posted on the Royal Family’s Instagram, you can watch some of Meghan’s greatest moments campaigning for women’s and girl’s rights.

[Sound On 🔈] Today is International #DayoftheGirl, a day observed globally and created by the United Nations to acknowledge the gender inequality that exists worldwide. Be it lack of access to education, stigma surrounding MHM, forced child marriage, legal or medical inequality, or gender-based violence, there is a pressing need to support young women in their path to excellence. It is also a day to celebrate and encourage girls to know their value and to support them in taking action to grow into the women they wish to be. The Duchess of Sussex has been a long time advocate for women’s and girls rights and at the age of eleven campaigned against a sexist advertisement, which was then changed. No matter what age, or what background you have the power to make an impact. HRH recently shared a quote during a speech in Cape Town: “Visualize your highest self, and show up as her.” • To all of the young girls reading this today on International Day of the Girl, that quote is for you.
