Camila Mendes Laughs about Her Makeover for ‘Riverdale’ Audition
Camila Mendes was the star of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Tuesday night and hilariously joked about her audition for the CW hit series.
Playing Veronica Lodge on Riverdale is no easy task, and Mendes did not impress the casting directors on her first time around, much to our surprise.

“I remember it being a very stressful day,” she told Stephen Colbert, “I was 30 minutes late for the audition and I was, like, the very last person that they were seeing and I, like, managed to squeeze in an audition. My hair was frizzy, it was a rainy day.”
She managed to nail the audition, even with the frizzy hair, but was told to come back “glossy.”

“You’re a little matte right now,” Mendes said she was told. “At CW, we’re glossy. Like, you know, glossy lips. Like cheeks are glowing.” No hard feelings were expressed after being advised that subtle change and Mendes laughs for a majority of the interview with Colbert.
