Be the Dream at ‘Honda Battle of the Bands’
The HBCU Marching Band Event of the Year will be held on Jan. 25, 2020, in Atlanta, Georgia.
Eight bands are chosen from qualifying schools to compete in the invitational showcase held in January. Those who qualified are as follows: Benedict College, Florida A&M University, Grambling State University, Hampton University, Jackson State University, North Carolina A&T State University, Prairie View A&M University, and Tenessee State University.
According to the Honda Battle of The Bands, “The Honda Battle of the Bands was created to celebrate, support and recognize the excellence of Black college marching bands and the unique academic experience offered by Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Honda annually awards approximately $200,000 in grants to participating marching bands during the program period.” Its slogan celebrates the event and encourages its participants to, ‘Be the Dream.’
Honda has been a proud supporter of the nation’s Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) for over 30 years. During that time, they have been able to influence and touch the lives of over 170,000 students and award more than $12 million in grants in support of HBCUs.
The Honda Battle of the Bands has been a tradition for the past 17 years. Make sure you check out the event and buy your tickets here. We, at Glitter, wish the finalists the best of luck.
