In Case You Missed It: Lizzo Sported the Tiniest Valentino Purse at the AMA’s
Lizzo’s tiny Valentino purse was the star of the show at the 2019 American Music Awards.
The singer, who celebrates diversity in every form through her music, was nominated for three awards, including New Artist of the Year. You would think the nominations alone would be all over the media, but in fact, it was her teeny-tiny purse that happened to go viral.
Not only was it unusually small, but it also represented a message.

Lizzo captioned her photo, “@maisonvalentino bag big enough for my ***** to give,” she wrote in the caption on her official Instagram account. “Big body ***** in a Valentin-HO custom look for @amas.”
The body-positive, self-loving singer wants to inspire her fans to not care what people think. After the bag went viral, she posted a follow-up photo to her account.
Hilariously, Lizzo is pictured here with a photo of the bag enlarged over her face. She captions it, “YEAH IM IN MY BAG, BUT IM IN HERS TOO.”
Lizzo performed at the show as well. Instead of going with the cult faves, she opted to sing the ballad, “Jerome.” She called out to the audience, “AMAs! I don’t know where you’ve been and I don’t know where you’re going. But I know you’re here right now for a special reason. Everybody put your lights up,” the crowd immediately whipped out their flashlights in anticipation. “This light represents the love you have for yourself. So shine bright!”
