Be Sure to Catch the 7 Must-See Movies of 2020

Everyone is going to be buzzing about these new movies throughout all of 2020.

A new year means new movie blockbusters that everyone has been waiting for. From blockbuster sequels to live-action remakes, here are 9 must-see movies to look out for this new year.

1. The Rhythm Section (January 31)

Stephanie Patrick (Blake Lively) is an assassin who is on the hunt for blood after she discovers that the plane crash her family died in was not an accident. This thriller is directed by Reed Morano who won an Emmy for The Handmaid’s Tale. Watch the trailer here. 

2. To All the Boys: P.S. I Still Love You (February 12)

Lara Jean (Lana Condor) and Peter’s (Noah Centineo) relationship is put to the test when another recipient of the love letters decides to see Lara Jean again. The inevitable sequel is adapted from the second book in Jenny Han’s series and is coming out right in time for Valentine’s Day to warm our hearts.

3. Emma (February 14)

In this adaptation of the Jane Austen novel, Emma (Anya-Taylor Joy) encounters many romantic mishaps until she finds the love that has always been there. Eleanor Catton, author of The Luminaries, wrote the screenplay and photographer, Autumn de Wilde, directed the film.

4. Mulan (March 27)

Let this live-action remake take you back to your childhood with Liu Yifei as Mulan. The film’s director, Niki Caro, made history as only the second woman to direct a Disney movie that has a budget of over $100 million.

5. Black Widow (May 1)

The film begins with Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) on the run after leaving Tony Stark’s side to aid Steve Rogers and Bucky Barnes. Romanoff will encounter many obstacles including her dark past that has only been hinted at before.

6. In The Heights (June 26)

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s musical hit is coming to the big screen and follows a bodega owner (Anthony Ramos) who is not sure if he should close his shop and go back to the Dominican Republic after inheriting his grandmother’s fortune.

7. West Side Story (December 18)

Steven Spielberg directs this adaptation of the Broadway show that is heavily influenced by Romeo and Juliet. West Side Story follows the rivalry between two gangs in New York and the star crossed romance that deepens the divide.
