Her new series “A Year of Firsts” will follow students during their first year of college.

Former first lady, Michelle Obama, is launching a new IGTV series titled “A Year of Firsts.” The series is going to follow students during their first year of college, highlighting the highs and lows many freshman experiences. The series is set to premiere later this month and end in June. The series is being produced by ATTN and is in partnership with the Reach Higher Education initiative.

The new series is part of Obama’s Reach Higher initiative on higher education that she started when she was the first lady. It is going to tackle financial issues, academic stress, battles with physical and mental health, and balancing relationships with school.

As a first-generation college student herself, Obama wants to encourage young kids to follow their dreams of higher education. She hopes the new series will let all students know they are not alone when facing these new challenges and they can always find a support system to help them through it.

“A Year of Firsts” is added onto the list of post-presidency projects the former first lady has been working on. She and her husband Barack made a production deal with Netflix and their first documentary about a Chinese-owned factory in Ohio was released this past August. Last year, she released her book Becoming and went on an international book tour.

Get inspired by these young adults as they try to overcome the many obstacles college puts in their way.
