Emma Watson Partners With thredUP to Promote a Fun Fashion Footprint Calculator

Emma Watson has partnered with thredUP to spread awareness of the environmental impact of fashion by supporting the launch of their Fashion Footprint Calculator.

The actress/activist introduced the partnership to social media a few days ago, stressing the importance of knowing our footprint size and the amount of CO2 we emit into the atmosphere.

They created an easy to use tool, and I’m so excited to help people discover the carbon impact of their wardrobes, and steps you can take to lighten your fashion footprint. They’ll tell you what your fashion footprint is equivalent to a number of flights, exactly how many pounds of CO2 it produces and how you fare compared to an average consumer. Small changes, such as thrifting instead of buying new, supporting sustainable brands, and air-drying your clothes, can make a HUGE difference. This tool will help to determine the size of your fashion footprint by asking a series of questions from how often you wash your clothes to what percentage of your clothes are second hand. Once you complete the short quiz, it will give you the approximate amount of CO2 you are contributing to the environment. It will then give you the option to find out how you can reduce your impact overall.

Additionally, you will be given the choice to share your results through social media using #FashionFootprint and by tagging @thredUP. In doing this, the company will donate $1 to the thredUP Circular Fashion Fund, which is “dedicated to supporting sustainable fashion efforts worldwide.”
