If You’re Looking for Ways to Give Back During the Pandemic, Take a Look Into the Efforts of Jay-Z and Rihanna
Jay-Z and Rihanna are giving back to our communities during COVID-19.
You can now add Jay-Z to the list of celebrities who pledged to donate funds as more relief is needed during the coronavirus pandemic.
The Clara Lionel Foundation, founded by Rihanna, along with The Shawn Carter Foundation, founded by Jay-Z, both announced their new donation pledges on their respective Instagram accounts Tuesday morning, March 31st. The Shawn Carter Foundation and the Clara Lionel Foundation will be each donating $1 million for the COVID-19 response efforts.
The combined donation of both foundations will support children of frontline health workers and first responders, undocumented workers, as well as incarcerated, elderly, and homeless populations in New York City and Los Angeles.
As mentioned on the Clara Lionel Foundation website, the funds from both nonprofit organizations will also help to offer “daycare, learning materials, food and supplies for the children of frontline healthcare workers and first responders; provide learning materials for over 20,000 children and youth in shelters and virtual mental health support for parents; ensure child-care centers are clean; and support the expansion of home delivered meals for the elderly and homeless in emergency shelters.”
Last week, Rihanna’s foundation also donated much-needed safety gear to hospitals in need and $5 million dollars where all proceeds went to food banks and supported medical staffers with much needed equipment amid the COVID-19 crisis.
