You Have to See This New ‘Saturday Night Live’ From Home Episode
Saturday Night Live has come back with a remotely-produced episode.
SNL like many other late-night television shows, had to stop production in mid-March due to the coronavirus. They had to postpone three shows that most likely will not happen this season. Since so many late-night shows have figured out how to produce shows at home, it was only a matter of time for SNL to do the same with the SNL at Home Special.
What made this episode so special and unique, was that the cast had to rely on themselves and their one-liners. There was no set, no props, and no audio or visual effects to help carry gags. It created a more personal connection between the audience and the cast, and really let the comedians’ talent shine.

The show had Tom Hanks, who recently recovered from coronavirus, as the guest host. The at-home show did experience some bumps in the road and Hanks stated in his opening monologue, “It’s SNL — there will be some good stuff, maybe one or two stinkers.” While the show was far from perfect and some jokes did fall flat, SNL couldn’t have accomplished what it did last night without technology. They satirized the technology that we need to bring us together in an attempt to redefine the normal reflected in our own lives around the world.
