Grab Your Scrunchies and Prepare to Flash Back to the 80s With the Release of the MGM and Orion Classics ‘Valley Girl’ Remake
A remake of the 1983 movie Valley Girl is here and it is ready to transport you back to the 80s with its singing, dancing, and totally tubular cast.
The teen Rom-Com Musical is set to be released on May 8 digitally and in select drive-in theaters. It follows the story of a valley girl and a rocker boy who fall in love and do whatever it takes to stay together despite their disapproving friends and family. If the movie was not intriguing enough already, the casting is the cherry on top with Jessica Rothe as the lead. Even though the movie is set in the 80s, Alicia Silverstone, who is iconic for playing Cher in Clueless during the 90s, will wow us again. Peyton List and Ashleigh Murray will also make appearances. If Rothe and Silverstone didn’t have us squealing already, then these two surely will.
Another notable actress who will play a punk rock girl in the movie is Mae Whitman who currently plays Annie on NBC’s Good Girls. The leading man of the movie is cause to be excited as well with Josh Whitehouse who starred alongside Vanessa Hudgens in Netflix’s The Knight Before Christmas as the lead.
Accompanied by a killer 80s playlist and brilliant costuming, Valley Girl is sure to make you want to throw on something neon, put your hair in a side pony, and sing and dance along. Be sure to tune in online when it premieres May 8, or if you’re able, check it out at a drive-in theater for a true retro experience.
