Stay tuned for the release of the film version of Hamilton set to drop on July 3rd.
If coronavirus left you without Fourth of July plans, never fear. Originally set to be released on October 15, 2021, the film version of Hamilton will now be released on Disney+ on July 3rd, making it available over the July 4th weekend.
The project was filmed back in June 2016 at the Richard Rodgers theater. The movie features Hamilton creator Lin-Manuel Miranda in the lead role, as well as the other beloved original Broadway cast members: Daveed Diggs as Marquis de Lafayette and Thomas Jefferson; Renée Elise Goldsberry as Angelica Schuyler; Leslie Odom, Jr. as Aaron Burr; Christopher Jackson as George Washington; Jonathan Groff as King George; Phillipa Soo as Eliza Hamilton; Okieriete Onaodowan as Hercules Mulligan and James Madison; and Anthony Ramos as John Laurens and Philip Hamilton.
Disney says that fans can look forward to the movie combining elements of live theater, film and streaming to create a new way to experience the 11-time Tony Award-winning musical.
Lin Manuel Miranda expressed his excitement over the film recently saying on social media, “I’m so grateful to all the fans who asked for this, and I’m so glad that we’re able to make it happen. I’m so proud of this show. I can’t wait for you to see it.”
And according to Twitter, fans can’t wait to see it either.
