Tune in and Listen to Noah Cyrus’ New EP, ‘The End of Everything’

Released on May 15, The End of Everything is Noah Cyrus’ second EP since her debut in 2018 with Good Cry.

The project has a total of eight tracks, including the previously released singles “July,” “Lonely,” and “I Got So High That I Saw Jesus.” It also features Cyrus’ collaboration with singer Ant Clemons in “Wonder Years.”

One of her most personal projects, the EP delves into topics ranging from relationships to depression and anxiety. “It’s bittersweet,” Cyrus said in an interview with Rolling Stone regarding the themes of mental health in the single “Lonely.” “It reminds me of how far I’ve come with that struggle and to encourage others to speak up. Of course there are some bad days, but I’ve learned to speak up.”

In addition to the EP, the 20-year-old singer also released an animated video for her latest single, “Young & Sad.”

While the video shows an illustrated Cyrus riding her horse through enchanting landscapes, the lyrics discuss her struggling with crippling sadness. Still, the track also opens with an encouraging voice mail message from Cyrus’ dad, Billy Ray Cyrus, reminding her to keep smiling.

“I feel like a lot of artists these days are riding a bit of a trend of being sad. Like that it’s ‘cool’ to be sad,” Cyrus shared in her interview regarding the issues she wanted to tackle in the single. “Originally the lyric was ‘I wanna be young & sad a little while longer,’ but something just wasn’t sitting right with me when I listened back. Like, I don’t want to be sad. It’s OK to struggle, but it’s not ‘cool’ to struggle. So I sat with it for a while and eventually rewrote it and flipped the lyrics to say ‘don’t want to be…’ once I figured out that that was what was really bothering me.”
