Check out the New ‘Hunger Games’ Prequel Novel

Lionsgate

Attention Hunger Games fans, the Hunger Games prequel novel is dropping today, May 19.  The novel titled A Ballad Of Songbird and Snakes is once again taking place in the dystopian world of Panem, a nation established after the collapse of modern civilization after a period of war, environmental disaster, and global conflict. Suzanne Collins, the author of The Hunger Games series, announced the prequel would take place 64 years before the plot of the 74th Hunger Games. The main character is a young Coriolanus Snow, the eventual leader of Panem we’ve witnessed in the Hunger Games trilogy.

The main character reveal came as a surprise to a lot of fans, because Snow is known as the main antagonist from the original trilogy. Instead, Snow is a young university student whose goal is to obtain honor and glory by being a mentor in the 10th annual Hunger Games. His one-time shot at glory seems to be slim when he is assigned to mentor a female tribute from District 12, the poorest and least desirable district in Panem. Snow’s relationship with the female tribute from District 12 might explain why Snow feels hostility towards Katniss Everdeen, the female tribute from District 12 in the original trilogy, and the winner of the 74th Hunger Games.

Maybe the odds will not be in his favor this time. Read the novel and find out.
