Global sensation, Demi Lovato, just talked about what growing up and “going to high school” on Disney Channel during the mid-2000s was like.

Demi Lovato is known for many things: her powerhouse vocals, her fashion sense, her advocacy for mental health and much more.

For many though, she became a household name in the mid-2000s due to her time on Disney Channel shows Sonny with a Chance and As the Bell Rings, as well as her portrayal of Mitchie in the Camp Rock movies.

This past Sunday, Demi joined actors, comedians, and real-life couple Nick Offerman and Megan Mullally on their podcast, In Bed with Nick and Megan, and talked about what life was like growing up alongside that era of budding Disney stars, which included the likes of the Jonas Brothers, Selena Gomez, and Miley Cyrus.

“It was this really small group of kids that we really couldn’t relate to a lot of people, so we kind of stuck together. We called it ‘Disney High’ because when there’s only a select few of you that can relate to one another, you start dating each other, you become friends with one another, you fall out with one another and then you break up with one another…It’s just confusing and dramatic, and that’s ‘Disney High’ for you,” she explained with a laugh.

While we know that every friend group as drama, it’s clear that there were some true memories made during the early to late 2000s era of Disney Channel, both within the stars themselves and the audience that grew up with them.
