Pull Up or Shut Up: Milani Cosmetics Wants to Do Better for the Black Community
Milani Cosmetics is reflecting on its organization and wants to improve on helping the Black Community.
On June 5, the cosmetic company released a post to Instagram after being asked for more details regarding their Person of Color Breakdown. The brand acknowledges that they can do better with improving diversity and Black representation within their own house. With 63 total employees, 6% are Black, 10% are Asian, 41% are Hispanic/Latino, and 2% are two races or more.
The brand also pledges to reevaluate the companies’ hiring and recruiting practices, ensure that Black influencers continue to be included in diversity, and encourage employees to support one-to-one mentoring relationships with minority youth.
The company also announced that it will partner with Givz in supporting the LGBTQ+ community. Customers that shop on the Milani website from June 10-23 will receive a donation credit equal to 10% of their total purchase. All proceeds will go to The National Black Justice Coalition and The Trevor Project.
Milani promises to hold themselves accountable and report back their achievements in the next six months. We appreciate that Milani acknowledges their mistakes and wants to continue doing better for their organization.
