BTS Donated $1M to Black Lives Matter and Their Fans Became an Ally With #MatchAMillion for $1M More
Check out how the BTS Army proved once again that they are the most powerful and dedicated fans in the world.
Last Thursday, the members of BTS took to Twitter to speak out about the Black Lives Matter movement, condemning violence and announcing their determination to stand in solidarity with the Black community. At the time, the group’s agency, Big Hit Entertainment, released a statement that BTS would be giving a donation, but the amount they would be giving was not disclosed.
This past Saturday, however, it was reported that BTS donated a whopping $1 million in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.
In response to this news, the #MatchAMillion movement was born, an effort started by BTS’ fandom, Army, to match their beloved group’s generous donation. In the first 24 hours of its conception, the total raised by the Army all over the world exceeded $817,000. By the end of Sunday, just one day after the fundraiser began, the fandom was able to reach their $1 million goal.

The money they raised was spread across multiple organizations including bailouts for those arrested for protesting police brutality, Black-led advocacy organizations fighting against systemic injustice, and support for the physical and mental health of the Black community.
BTS truly has the most amazing fans in the world. We thank Army for their coordinated efforts and hope that this chain of generosity continues to inspire others to support the Black Lives Matter movement as it progresses forward.
