She urges all of her fans who identify as white to understand that until this stops completely, the Black community will continue to live in danger. The singer demands accountability and in an impassioned statement on her Instagram, pledges to join the fight.

Over the past two weeks, Lovato has posted many educational resources on racism, white supremacy, and privilege. Lovato believes that all expressions of white supremacy are dangerous. Although society labels racial slurs, hate crimes, lynching, swastikas, and the KKK as unacceptable, it does not condemn racial profiling, mass incarceration, paternalism, and white savior complexes, which are just as dangerous. In her posts, Lovato attempts to call out society’s hypocrisy and bring awareness.
