After so many beauty labels shared their support for Black Lives Matter to social media, Chuter sent a powerful message to the entire industry to show the lack of Black beauty executives within the beauty market. Beauty veteran, Chuter, has learned a lot throughout her career and is out to change the inclusivity in the beauty industry. Her launch of UOMA (translates to “beautiful” in Nigerian) is more than a brand to represent Black women, it is a brand that keeps all women behind the shades of their foundation at the core of their mission.
To help hold companies accountable to release the number of Black employees, Chuter has encouraged consumers to hold off from buying from their favorite companies until these companies have released the information. Since then, companies such as Kylie Cosmetics, Morphe, Sephora and many others have come forward embracing their diversity and taking accountability for lack of black employees in corporate and executive positions.
It is campaigns like #PullUpOrShutUp that will help sustain the Black Lives Matter movement and continue to push for change. Head over the campaign’s Instagram page to stay up to date with the companies that are pulling up for change.
