Fashion Stands Alongside Black Lives Matters
Fashion is one of the most stable things throughout our lives, but in a day and age where justice is, at times in question, we see the fashion world coming together to help stand hand in hand with those being impacted by injustice.
Nike, also referred to as, ‘Just Do It’, is coming forward with how they are standing up for this movement.
Zooming in a little smaller into the world, we can see New York City working to stand alongside the movement as well. Resonance, a smaller technology firm in the heart of NYC is vowing to empower 10 of their Black designers to illustrate and launch their own fashion brands by August.
Continuing on with city fashion, Supreme has also joined the movement. The streetwear brand has donated $500,000 to the Black Lives Matter movement. Not only is this brand one come up with nearly every major city fashion trend, but it is also inspired and supported by the Black community.
Lastly, Fear of God’s founder partnered with influential brands, such as Demin tears, Off-White, and Noah to release a limited-edition T-shirt design. All money raised from sales will be put towards the Gianna Floyd Fund, honoring her father, George Floyd.
And just like that, the clothes we wear come from more than just their tags. These brands that we all shop, wear, and love are helping change the world. So who are you wearing?
