Comedian and activist Amanda Seales launched a membership-only community for black people and allies called the SFB Society on June 1, where like-minded people are able to freely discuss important topics.

An extension of Seales’ Smart Funny & Black brand, the official website for the SFB Society describes it as “a safe space that creates the ultimate vibe, shares all the jokes, and speaks nothing but the facts.” Membership includes exclusive access to original writing, visual art, podcasts, and videos from Seales.

There are two membership plans to choose from, Bachelor of SFB Society and Master of SFB Society. At $12.99 per month, the Bachelor of SFB Society plan allows members to comment on host and moderator posts, comment on Seales’ #IGStoryGems, and create connections with other members. The Master of SFB Society plan starts at $24.99 per month and allows you additional access, including coloring pages based on Seales’ artwork, a book club with Seales to discuss excerpts, short stories, and poems, exclusive podcast content form Seales’ show Small Doses, a monthly drawing to have office hours with Seales, and more.

“The membership-only structure of SFB Society provides a perimeter of protection and empowerment to revel, disagree, share, celebrate, challenge, elevate and heal with each other through culture, comedy, and community,” said the SFB Society website. “We welcome our allies who support and fight the fight along with us to our society as well!”

This Sunday all SFB Society members will receive access to $5 tickets to Smart Funny & Black in Da Crib June 19.

“In our space, you’ll find concepts of wellness and self-care, along with major tips and tools that serve to better our black minds, bodies and souls,” said the SFB Society website. “We consider it essential that we endeavor to take care of our whole selves individually, believing that it strengthens our ability to nurture our community and thus make us better equipped to not only challenge oppression but preserve our joy in the process!”

Seales has been keeping busy, and she will be hosting the BET Awards June 28. Follow her on Instagram @amandaseales to keep up with her latest projects, and go to www.sfbsociety.com to start your free one-week trial.
