Broadway’s ‘Mean Girls’ Is Supporting Black Lives Matter in a Creative Way

Joan Marcus

Mean Girls on Broadway has launched a new project in support of Black Lives Matter that we all need to tune into.

The Broadway musical took to their social media this past week to share that they will be starting a summer book club. The program will be a series of readings that focus on the fight against racial injustice, followed by detailed discussions. The book club will encourage followers to join the cast in educating themselves further through the books chosen.

Creator of Mean Girls Tina Fey has been hands-on in the project facilitating a book giveaway alongside the original actress of Cady, Erika Henningsen. The first read of the summer is The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas, and it will be discussed live on July 1st.

Join Broadway’s Mean Girls in educating yourself this summer through works that aim to fight racial inequality.
