Anne Hathaway Shares ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Meme to Promote Face Mask Wearing
Anne Hathaway champions COVID couture and good hygiene by posting a The Devil Wears Prada face mask meme.
Acclaimed actress, Anne Hathaway, known for her iconic role as the self-effacing fashion assistant, Andrea Sachs in The Devil Wears Prada, is utilizing her social media platforms to help slow the spread of Coronavirus and promote productive practices. On Thursday, June 18, Hathaway posted a meme paying homage to her on-screen character, Andy Sachs. The meme featured Andy Sachs’ dramatic fashion transformation and artfully altered the iconic “Chanel boots” line for a more relevant, Coronavirus caption:
“Are you wearing the C—”
“The CDC recommended face-covering because we’re still in the middle of the global COVID-19 pandemic? Yeah, I am.”

Again, I will never tire of those DEVIL WEARS PRADA memes – especially if it’s a regram from Anne Hathaway. pic.twitter.com/3hI5oG3HYd

During quarantine season, there has been a surplus of inside jokes, but this trending meme is certainly of top-tier quality; it is giving us something to talk about. Although humorous and seemingly light-hearted, this meme conveys an extremely important message: do your part to help contain Coronavirus. Anne Hathaway uses humor, an extremely popular and easily absorbable tool, to encourage fans to follow the Center for Disease Control’s safety tips/guidelines and promote healthy habits.
How many ways do we have to say it? Wear a face mask. https://t.co/RdFBrSZMnd

Turn up your favorite quarantine bops: “You can’t touch this” – MC Hammer, “Dancin’ with myself” – Billy Idol, and “My loneliness is killing me” – Britney Spears, and place that bulk mask order on Amazon now. There is an impressive selection of masks: some with muted, more understated prints and others with loud, funky patterns. Pandemic, but make it fashion. Remember, real women flatten the curve; heroes wear masks. We applaud Anne Hathaway for using her platform to promote protective measures against Coronavirus.
I am a plucky Sophomore at Wesleyan University with a passion for writing, fashion, running, and extremely strong coffee—so strong that it would make a 6’5’’ WWE wrestler weep. I am a small person with a big personality, only intensified by the coffee, that seeps into both my bold street and writing style. I am currently based in the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan area and am excited to work for such an empowering, female-focused publication. During this trying time in history it is more important than ever for women to continue lifting each other up and spreading positive energy!
