You Need to Hear the New Solo Version of Aretha Franklin’s Song ‘Never Gonna Break My Faith’
The powerful collaboration of Aretha Franklin and Mary J. Blige that brought us “Never Gonna Break My Faith” has now been released as a solo version by Franklin, thanks to Sony’s RCA Records.
In honor of Juneteenth, the song about race and faith from 2006 will capture our hearts again in the new solo version. The lyrics speak for themselves and truly resonate with the recent events happening today. Some even say the lyrics could be quite shocking to hear now.
One of Franklin’s close friends Clive Davis, Sony Music’s chief creative officer, spoke a bit regarding the release of the song by the singer who passed. He believes everyone should hear it, especially now, because of the quality and power of the lyrics. At the 50th Grammy Awards in 2008, “Never Gonna Break My Faith” won best gospel performance. It includes background vocals of The Boys Choir of Harlem.
Clive Davis is working on making a film about Franklin’s life, and when the co-writer of the song Bryan Adams heard the news, he had to send over the solo version he held onto after all these years. Adams thought this was a perfect time to introduce the incredible version, and he was right.
