Harry Styles Signs on to the Black Music Action Coalition

Harry Styles is among many musicians who are working hard to change the music industry and the racial disparities within it.

On Monday, June 22, Harry Styles posted a photo to Twitter and Instagram of the large, yellow and black logo for The Black Music Action Coalition, an organization founded by top industry executives that came together just in time for Juneteenth.

The Black Music Action Coalition has a goal to “uphold and actualize the mission of Black Lives Matter in the music industry and reach racial justice not just across labels, publishers, agencies, distributors, and DSP’s but throughout society at large,” their June 22 statement read.

The non-profit advocacy group fully understands the systematic racism bound to this country, including media and entertainment, and are urging their clients and counterparts to take action in changing that for the better of their own industry and the world in general.

While Harry did not outright caption his posts, he did tag the organization alongside the photos he posted, which simply shares what they are doing and showcases his support publicly.

Lady Gaga, Billie Eilish, Post Malone, and Miley Cyrus are just a handful of the performers alongside Harry who have signed on to support the coalition and want to work diligently to meet their goals.

The Black Music Action Coalition recognizes the power that Black artists have had in every genre of music and want to give credit where credit is due. 

The organization took to social media to share a graphic that reads “All music is Black music,” which is one of the sentiments of the group and its supporters.
