Check Out The Sims 4 and Mac Cosmetics Makeup Collaboration Customized for Black/POC Players
The Sims 4 and MAC Cosmetics collaborated to create customized makeup looks for in-game Sims, a welcome update for gamers of color.
Black gamers and players of color who love both makeup and The Sims 4 can now customize their character profiles with eyeshadow, eyeliner, lipsticks, and cheek colors that better compliment Sims with darker skin tones. According to MAC’s director of makeup artistry, Romero Jennings, this is the “first-ever makeup brand in the game.”
“As a Black makeup artist, it’s especially important that the looks work for Simmers of all skin tones,” Jennings stated on a Teen Vogue press release about the feature. The collection aims to make black gamers and gamers of color feel more comfortable with the makeup choices for their characters.
“We wanted to make it easy for players to develop their Sims look on-screen and then replicate them in real life,” Jennings expressed. “The goal is for this to be as fun for you to mix and match as it was for me to create.”
Black Simmers online have been pleased with the makeup looks they have been able to create for their characters.

Even though The Sims video game has been around since 2000, it’s great to see how they have worked to become more accessible and inclusive for gamers of color, adapting the game so that it’s one for everyone to enjoy. You can buy The Sims 4 on PlayStation 4, XBox One, and PC Download here.
