Victoria Beckham Features LGBTQ+ Charities in Instagram Takeover
In honor of Pride Month, Victoria Beckham is hosting an Instagram Live takeover to advocate different LGBTQ+ charities.
Victoria Beckham is continuing her support of Pride Month, educating her followers about charities that contribute to the LGBTQ+ cause. Starting today through Friday, designer Victoria Beckham will pass her platform to different guests hosting a variety of events. From cocktail mixing, drag bingo, and live DJ sets, guests will be taking donations as they spotlight charities for the LGBTQ+ community.
For the first day of Beckham’s takeover, DJ Jodie Harsh interviews Munroe Bergdorf to discuss what Pride means to her, who her influences while growing up were, and U.K. organization Mermaids. What started as a group of concerned parents coming together to discuss the understanding and safety for their gender-variant children in 1995 has blossomed into one of the leading charities in the U.K. The group assists young and teenage gender-diverse and transgender individuals and their family members. Bergdorf recognized a lot of her childhood and teenage influences were strong women. Bergdorf mentioned names like Kylie Minogue and Madonna, noting that there were not many transgender influences during her youth. As a patron for Mermaids, Bergdorf discusses how to be an ally, not just during Pride month, but every day throughout the entire year.
