John Legend Inspires Us With His Powerful Performance of ‘Never Break’ at the 2020 Bet Awards
Despite the BET Awards being held virtually, John Legend still gave a spine-chilling performance of his song, ‘Never Break.’
On June 19th, 2020, Legend released his new album, Bigger Love, which featured 16 new tracks, including ‘Never Break.’ Legend sings, “We will never break / Built on a foundation / Strong enough to stay / We will never break / As the water rises / And the mountains shake / Our love will remain.” He continues, “We know how the story ends.” Following the recent deaths of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor, Legend’s powerful lyrics are hard-hitting.

One of Legend’s lyrics, “we will never break,” is especially heart touching and poignant. It is also, however, hopeful of a better tomorrow, which all of us are trying to build through supporting Black Lives Matter and advocating for the permanent eradication of police brutality.
