Sadly, Adele won’t be coming out with new music any time soon.

On Saturday, June 27, 2020, Adele announced that she wouldn’t be releasing new music any time soon in response to a fan’s comment on Instagram stating: “Teaser? Albums coming out today???!!!! Tell me now!!!” The English singer-songwriter replied saying “Of course it’s not. Corona ain’t over. I’m quarantining. Wear a mask and be patient.”

The fan’s excitement is reasonable: Back in 2019, Adele posted to Instagram regarding her 31st birthday. This post teased the release of a new album, and was coupled with a lengthy self-love message from the star:

“This is 31…thank fucking god,” begins the Instagram caption. “30 tried me so hard but I’m owning it and trying my hardest to lean in to it all. No matter how long we’re here for life is constant and complicated at times. I’ve changed drastically in the last couple years and I’m still changing and that’s okay. 31 is going to be a big ol’ year and I’m going to spend it all on myself. For the first time in a decade I’m ready to feel the world around me and look up for once. Be kind to yourself people we’re only human, go slow, put your phone down and laugh out loud at every opportunity. Learning to REALLY truly love yourself is it, and I’ve only just realized that that is more than enough. I’ll learn to love you lot eventually.” Thanks for the insight, Adele.

The star concluded the telling passage hinting at a follow-up to her album 25, with a splash of sass: “Bunch of f-cking savages, 30 will be a drum n bass record to spite you.”

Adele’s manager Jonathan Dickins confirmed her musical delay, according to Digital Spy. Dickins revealed to Music Week that the album “isn’t coming in September, it’ll be ready when it’s ready.” Dickens continues, putting the matter simply: “We’re all in the same boat, you’re doing stuff and then all of a sudden, the world stops,” he states.
