Check Out Chiquis and Becky G’s Spanish Version of ‘Jolene’
Dolly Parton’s famous 1973 song “Jolene” is getting a cumbia makeover!
It’s been nearly 50 years since Dolly Parton released her song “Jolene,” and there have been many covers over the years from Miley Cyrus to Pentatonix. Now the song is getting a Spanish takeover by two Mexican-American singers; Chiquis Rivera and Becky G.
The new “Jolene” strays away from the classic folk style to a cumbia style. The animated music video features the ladies as two western outlaws, both having a soft spot for a bounty-hunter and later getting revenge. The video is also inspired by pulp fiction comics and was shot by a green screen while the ladies were in quarantine.
Nuestro video de #Jolene está aquí. We shot this in quarantine with some help from a green screen & created our own little Old Western film. Déjame saber qué te parece. ☺️ Feliz Cumpleaños to my girl @Chiquis626 ❤️ https://t.co/YYVJAiaOlS pic.twitter.com/2KS8iU5246

“Jolene” is the newest single off of Chiquis album Playlists, which dropped in May. Chiquis wrote on Instagram that she was happy to collaborate with Becky and that Dolly Parton is a true “icon for all women.”
There is no word if Parton has heard the revamped version, but we all agree that its a hit! Make sure to check out “Jolene” out on all streaming platforms and the music video on YouTube.
