Jay-Z’s Annual Made in America Festival Canceled Due to Coronavirus Concerns
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Jay-Z and company Roc Nation have canceled their annual Made in America Festival, previously scheduled for Labor Day weekend.
Every year, the Made in American Festival is held over Labor Day weekend. The festival was founded by Jay-Z back in 2012, and now, for the first time in almost eight years, the festival will not occur.
On Wednesday, Roc Nation released a statement regarding the festival’s cancellation along with their plans to pick back up in 2021. “2020 is a year like no other. We are in a pivotal time in this nation’s history. Collectively, we are fighting parallel pandemics, COVID-19, systematic racism and police brutality. Now is the time to protect the health of our artists, fans, partners and community as well as focus on our support for organizations and individuals fighting for social justice and equality in our country. Therefore, the Made In America festival will be rescheduled for Labor Day Weekend 2021.”
This year’s Made in America Festival was expected to take place from Sept. 5-6 at Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway. Roc Nation tells fans who already bought tickets to “hold on to your tickets, as they will be valid for next year, and we will be sharing additional information as it becomes available, via our website and social media.”
Of course, those who prefer a refund are eligible by reaching out via e-mail, and “for any further ticket inquiries, please reach out to the point of purchase.”
