Whippd Cosmetics Launches Nude Glosses for Black Women
Nothing is more attractive than beauty inclusivity.
Some cosmetic companies claim to back Black Lives Matter, yet exclusively endorse Eurocentric beauty standards. If you want to support companies that champion customers of all shapes, shades, and sizes, a young beauty entrepreneur, Rachel Robins, is creating a product that promotes inclusivity and Black pride. Her products’ impressive skin tone range allows a diverse pool of clientele to enjoy her product.

Robins’ recent launch, the Coco Collection, features a wide range of deeper, richer shades, typically excluded from rival beauty brands. The beauty mogul’s personal struggles finding shades that compliment her skin tone inspired her to create this line. She revealed to Teen Vogue, “My experience of trying to find the perfect nude lip color to match me was always unsuccessful. The colors I would use would either be too light, too dark or have a blaring red undertone.” The classic “nude” gloss, endorsed by many leading beauty brands, is targeted at an extremely small subgroup of clientele with creamy white complexions. A narrow range of shades may seem like a trivial problem on the surface; however, it is actually quite serious. The poor representation within the beauty realm poisons people’s self-image and nurtures unhealthy beauty standards. We want to see companies celebrate diversity and stop endorsing a singular prescription for beauty.

I am a small person with a big personality, only intensified by the coffee, that seeps into both my bold street and writing style. I am currently based in the Washington, D.C. During this trying time in history it is more important than ever for women to continue lifting each other up and spreading positive energy!
