Catch Talia Jackson on the Netflix Original Series ‘Family Reunion’
Young actress Talia Jackson got her first break starring in the Netflix series Family Reunion as the recurring role of Jade McKellan.
Talia, age 18, was born in Wisconsin and moved to Santa Barbara, California in 2009 to pursue her dreams of becoming an actress and singer. She spent 10 years auditioning, but only received roles in small productions.
While Jackson was close to giving up, she chased her dreams just long enough to land two roles in the same month. Jackson booked a starring role in Family Reunion and Station 19. She wrote in an Instagram post the year she received these roles that “things can and will always get better with time.” View the post below.
If you’re in need of a binge-worthy show, Family Reunion has got you covered. It was renewed for a second season back in September of 2019, and we are excited to see what Netflix has in store for us.
Family Reunion encompasses comedy as well as timely societal issues. Jackson’s character specifically goes through a time where she does not feel confident in embracing her natural, beautiful curls. There is a time during the show where Jade will wear her hair straight before she learns to love her organic curls. This is just one of the multiple issues the young black girls face that the show sheds light on.
In February, Family Reunion won the Outstanding Children’s Program award at the 51st annual NAACP Image Awards.
Jackson is a staple in the sitcom. You will fall in love with her and her character. This young actress also has a singing career so be sure to check out some of her music on YouTube and Spotify.
Hi! I am Hannah Forton pursuing a double major in Communications and Music Industry. I love traveling, sports, cooking, music, Broadway, movies, DIY, make-up, clothes, and tutorials. Some of my favorite work experiences includes an internship at a recording studio and working at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Helping and educating others is important to me, and I’ve enjoyed being able to do so through volunteering for numerous non-profits since middle school. I like the big city vibes, but small towns will always hold a special place in my heart. Living near Detroit allows me to achieve the best of both worlds.
