Don’t Miss Brie Larson’s YouTube Channel Debut
The star of Captain Marvel just announced her new quarantine project: A personal YouTube channel.
From baking to Animal Crossing, everyone is searching for a way to spend time while self-isolating during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brie Larson is no different, but her new project seems to be as exciting to Marvel fans as it is to her:
A brand new YouTube channel.
Larson teased the project on social media on July 1, and she officially launched it the following day. Filled with wholesome content and impromptu laughs, her first video has her figuring out how to record on Zoom, what content to make, and how to mix comedy with serious issues. To help her, she invited many famous YouTubers, like Lilly Singh, Justine Ezarik, and Lauren Riihimaki, as well as her mom.

She revealed that she is still working out what to discuss on her channel. One potential idea suggested was food, such as making the world’s largest muffin or warming up tortillas. Another topic considered was revealing more about her personal life, such as her audition for Hunger Games or her love for gaming.
Video games, in particular, seem to be a promising topic: Larson shared that it was a big deal for her growing up, and her latest passion has been playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons on her Nintendo Switch. It seems that fans can also expect many gaming collaborations coming soon, such as Larson playing Fortnite with Singh or discussing Nintendo with Ezarik.

Larson also shared that she will use her YouTube channel to continue her activism work. During the COVID-19 pandemic, she used her platform on social media to interview guests on issues like health care for people of color, incarceration during the pandemic, and the importance of paid sick leave. Recently, she also showed solidarity with the Black Lives Matter protests by sharing resources, demanding justice for Breonna Taylor, and lending her Instagram for the #ShareTheMicNow project.
Now, entering a new platform, Larson hopes to continue highlighting important voices and issues. Even in her first video, she recognized the current fight for racial justice and wrote down Black creators to follow in the video’s description.
“We will, of course, continue conversations like that on this channel, but I also think it’s important to recognize those people with boots on the ground doing this work in a very profound way,” Larson said.
“YouTube has been a place that I have learned so much, whether it’s been how to use my printer or it’s been watching how to be a considerate activist. This is the place to talk about things that are important and that matter,” Larson shared in the video. “It doesn’t mean that there isn’t also silly content, that there’s ways for me to express personally, but there will also be deep conversations, anti-racist rhetoric, inclusive content.”
