Naomi Osaka and Her Sister Created a Face Mask Capsule Collection with UNICEF

NBC/Nathan Congleton

Tennis star Naomi Osaka and her sister Mari collaborated with designer Hanako Maeda to create face masks. Far from the tennis court, Naomi and her sister have designed for the first time: a face mask capsule! In a statement, Naomi said when she was younger she started drawing on her way to tennis tournaments. With the pandemic, the sisters were tired of seeing a medical face mask and decided, “to release a mask that wasn’t just for protection, but could also be used as a fashion statement.”

I am excited to share with you all that my sister and I have teamed up to design this limited edition mask with proceeds benefiting UNICEF’s COVID-19 relief efforts. Every day is a great day to show you care about protecting yourself and others. The Panda Masks, which are three layers coated with 3XDRY BIO and washable up to 50 times, are available at the link in my website in my bio.

On top of that, Osaka partnered also with UNICEF to create this limited edition face mask. This collection is sold to benefit under-served Japanese youth. It’s a great initiative from the highest female paid athlete. The face masks are sold $10 each and are available on her website.

Last February, Osaka showed her interest in fashion. She debuted her first collection at the New York fashion week, teaming up with Hanako Maeda’s ADEAM, along with the help of her sister, Mari. In the future, we may see the sisters create their own line, but for now, we will keep cheering on Naomi at her tennis matches.
