On July 6, 2020, Halsey debuted a new song, “Life’s a Mess” with Juice WRLD, who passed away in December of 2019.

Juice WRLD’s posthumous album will be released on July 10, 2020. The record, Legends Never Die, will feature 15 songs, many of which Juice WRLD was still writing before his death. On July 6, Halsey posted a tribute to Juice WRLD and showed her new tattoo of 999, which the deceased singer also had on his wrist. While 666 signifies evil in the Bible, 999 stands for turning struggle and grief into a positive.

“Life’s a Mess” is Halsey’s second collaboration with Juice WRLD. At the beginning of 2019, Halsey released a remix of her song “Without Me,” featuring him.

In “Life’s a Mess,” Juice WRLD sings, “Uh, sometimes life’s a mess / Uh, I get high when I’m upset / I remember when me and love didn’t click / Searchin’ for somethin’ real, then I found it.” Halsey continues, “Thank God I finally found you / You put the light in my eyes when I’m around you / I’m too flawed to hold you down, but / Don’t wanna be here alone.” Click down below to listen to the full track.

“Life’s a Mess” is true to its name and makes us play the song on repeat. It is heartbreaking, bittersweet, and impacts us differently because we know that Juice WRLD is not coming back. He may be gone, but fans can help his memory live on. It is our responsibility to carry on his musical legacy because legends truly never die.
