Girl Up recently revealed Meghan Markle as a keynote speaker to the organization’s Twitter platform.

The Girl Up Leadership Summit, created by the UN in 2010, is a global initiative aimed to inspire young women to be a force for gender and social equality. Since the summit has been established, 65,000 female youth across 120 countries have been impacted through development programs and guest speakers. This year, the summit will be held virtually due to the pandemic. The next three-day summit will begin Monday, July 13, from 10 am EDT to 10:30 pm EDT and will involve several expert-led workshops. Workshop topics include health and wellness, advocacy, civic engagement, women in business/arts, and more. To get the full list of workshop topics, click here.

The Duchess of Sussex joins fellow feminist advocate, Michelle Obama, who will be delivering a special message. Priyanka Chopra Jonas will also be hosting a Q&A session.

Women of all ages and backgrounds are welcomed to participate in the leadership summit. Girl Up focuses on providing leadership developments and resources to take action for gender equality throughout the world.

This is one of the first publicized appearances for Markle upon stepping down as a senior working member of the royal family in March. She is welcomed alongside many guest speakers from authors, journalists, and activists spreading women’s empowerment throughout the world.
