Catch the First Look at ‘PEN15’ Season Two on Hulu
The show will premiere its sophomore season on Hulu on September 18.
Summer break is almost over, and, for Hulu, seventh grade will be back in session soon. The cringe-filled comedy PEN15 is returning with its much-anticipated second season in just two months.
PEN15 is based on the middle school experiences of comedians Anna Konkle and Maya Erskine. Growing up in the year 2000, the 30-something-old duo plays their 13-year-old selves alongside a cast of actual teenage actors. All events are meant to be as they happened, which makes the whole show even funnier.
The first season was an incredible success, achieving a 93% on Rotten Tomatoes. Hulu announced the show’s renewal back in May 2019, and, quite frankly, fans can’t wait any longer for it.

Thankfully, this week, the first glimpse of Season 2 was revealed to the world. The teaser features Anna and Maya working their way through puberty. The two must face everything from awkward body changes to hilarious phone calls, all while trying (and failing) to not freak out too much.
Hulu also announced that, although Season two will have 14-episodes in total, they will be split into two parts. The first half will be available for streaming on September 18, while the rest will be released in 2021. Still, based on this first look, it seems that PEN15 is back with another must-watch season.

“We’re hoping to keep the show [about] Anna and I in seventh grade, forever. That’s what the whole concept of the show is about: that purgatory. It’s not about these two characters going to high school,” Erskine shared in an interview with EW. “We might see them explore darker and more mature things next season…We don’t want to lose some of the sillier, zanier moments that are reminiscent of that time, because your logic at that time is crazy.”
