Founded by costume designer and wardrobe curator, Zerina Akers, the Instagram account and website were created as a way for consumers to seek Black-owned businesses, such as restaurants, professional services, creative services and more.
The website has also been promoted by Beyonce. On June 19, she promoted the page on her website to celebrate Juneteenth, the day that celebrates the emancipation of slavery.
