The Grammy-nominated rock star released the project on July 10.

As the world shut down to slow the spread of COVID-19, many people took up new passions and projects. Likewise, Elle King, the iconic singer of “Ex’s and Oh’s,” spent her time in quarantine working on brand new songs and taking guitar lessons. On July 10, she released her latest EP, fittingly titled In Isolation.

In Isolation features three tracks: “The Only One,” “Over Easy,” and “The Let Go.” The songs discuss both good and bad relationships, as well as the complicated feelings that come with them. Made simply with only a guitar and a piano, all songs were written and produced while King was isolated.

The tracks have been generally well-received, and fans were thrilled with the new content, already asking for more. Thankfully, in addition to the EP, King also blessed them with a music video for “The Let Go.” From her own home, King is accompanied only by her guitarist. In the video, she takes off her cat face mask before serenading viewers with her incredible voice.

“From the rug being ripped out from underneath to the burst of a new idea,” King shared in a statement to Rolling Stone. “Isn’t the world strange? When we think of the state of it, have we upheld the promise to love and nurture it? What is it that’s going to carry us through this time of isolation?”

While you’re taking precautions and staying safe from COVID-19, make sure to listen to Elle King’s In Isolation out now on Spotify.
