Walt Disney World Reopens With New Restrictions

‘The Most Magical Place On Earth’ reopens once again, but with strict rules and regulations.

Walt Disney World reopened to the public yesterday morning (Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom) after almost four months since it closed back in March. Although the park is currently opened, many are still worried, especially with the spike of COVID-19 cases in Florida.

According to USA Today, the Florida Department of Health announced that more than 11,000 COVID-19 cases were reported last Friday. They also detailed that the new statewide total was at 182,000 cases since June 5. Despite the record-breaking number, the Orlando theme park still decided to open, but with new precautions.

Those who want to visit the parks have to make a reservation and purchase a valid ticket to enter. Guests are also not allowed to park hop, or in other words, must only visit one park per day. When park visitors arrive, their temperatures are taken. Those with temperatures over 100.4 degrees are not allowed to enter. Everyone has to wear a face mask except while eating, and hand sanitizing stations are scattered throughout the park. Selected cast members frequently remind visitors to practice social distancing throughout the day, and popular park areas will be cleaned more often.

Not all of the park enjoyments are available to guests: Disney character meet-and-greets are unavailable and firework shows and parades will not be displayed.

Hollywood Studios and Epcot will be opened to the public tomorrow morning. If you’re planning to go, remember to practice social distancing and wear a mask.
