Laugh Out Loud With Lucy Hale’s Newly Released Romantic Comedy ‘A Nice Girl Like You’

The CW/Barbara Nitke

Lucy Hale stars in and is co-producer of the romantic comedy A Nice Girl Like You, now available on Apple TV, Amazon, Vudu, and all major Video On Demand platforms.

The film tells the story of violinist Lucy Neal, played by Hale, who creates a wild to-do list after her boyfriend breaks up with her for being too sexually inhibited. As she works her way down the list, she begins to discover herself through her sexuality and eventually finds new love.

The plot is based on the memoir Pornology by Ayn Carrillo-Gailey, which was chosen as the featured book of the month by Elle Magazine, Cosmopolitan Magazine, and Latina Magazine.

In addition to Hale, the film also features Leonidas Gulaptis (Gala & Godfrey), Mindy Cohn (Consequences, Facts of Life), Jackie Cruz (Orange Is The New Black), and Adhir Kalyan (Rules of Engagement).

Hale explained that she felt immediately drawn to the project after reading the script, believing that the similarity between her own name and the character’s name was a sign that it was meant to be.

“I read the whole script and I was so embarrassed and blushing the whole time [and] I was laughing my butt off,” said Hale in an interview with Daily Pop. “It made me feel uncomfortable… so I knew that I had to do it just to break me out of my shell.”

Hale recently co-hosted a music and mindfulness livestream with Jay Shetty to raise money for mental health support. Hale also shared her uncertainty regarding future projects earlier this month after learning that Katy Keene would be canceled after one season.
