In Celebration of Her 40th Birthday, Gisele Bündchen Plants 40,000 Trees
For her 40th birthday, Gisele Bündchen asks for her friends and family to plant trees rather than traditional birthday gifts.
Model Gisele Bündchen is giving back this year. Not only is Bündchen one of the world’s top models, but she is also an environmental activist. This year, the star turns 40, and rather than the usual birthday gifts, she’s requesting her friends and family plant trees instead.
Using her Instagram, Bündchen posted a series of photos featuring husband, Tom Brady, along with their kids Benjamin and Vivian as they spent the day and planting trees.
“As some of you know, my birthday is coming up on July 20th. And it’s not just any birthday! I can’t believe I am turning 40,” the model wrote. “I feel like a whole new chapter of my life is starting, and I wanted to celebrate it in a meaningful way, so I decided to plant 40,000 trees. I have been planting trees for different projects for years, as I feel that this is the best way I know to give back to Mother Earth.”
She continued, “What if I could come up with a way for others to help me plant trees there? I’ve already talked to my family and my friends — and they will all turn their gifts into trees. That way, we can all help give something back to our planet.”
On World Environmental Day, June 5, Bündchen again used her Instagram platform to promote respecting and taking care of mother nature. “Nature has the answers- and by observing her, and mirroring back her example, we can start creating a more loving, supportive world where we can all thrive. This is our home, and our choices will help to create our future.”
