Starring Gone Girl actress Rosamund Pike, the film will be available for streaming starting July 24.

Radioactive is an adaptation from artist Lauren Redniss’ graphic novel regarding Marie Curie’s life. The movie centers around the famous Polish scientist and her discoveries, including the chemical elements polonium and radium. It also sheds light on her relationship with her husband and fellow research partner Pierre, as well as her struggles to receive recognition for her work.

Curie not only became the first woman to win a Nobel Prize, but she is the only woman to have won the award twice. She is still the only Nobel Prize winner to receive the accolade in two different scientific fields.

Directed by Persepolis writer Marjane Satrapi, Radioactive stars Rosamund Pike in its leading role. The film also features Sam Riley as Pierre and Anya Taylor-Joy as their daughter, Irene.

The film currently scores a 68% on Rotten Tomatoes, with most critics praising Pike’s brilliant portrayal of the groundbreaking scientist.

Although Radioactive was first revealed last year in the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), it is now finally being made available to the general public through Amazon Prime Video. Hopefully, the film’s wide release leads to more girls watching it and aspiring to become future scientists.

“I loved this fierce woman who was uncompromising, had integrity and stood up for what she believed,” director Satrapi said according to Screen Daily. “I had to make one film to inspire younger girls.”

Make sure to watch Radioactive on Amazon Prime Video, starting July 24. Get ready for it by watching the trailer above.
