Tori Kelly Announced New EP ‘Solitude’ and Cover of Drake’s ‘Time Flies’

Capitol Records

Singer Tori Kelly is spending her quarantine making new music and listening to Drake.

The singer announced on Twitter that she will drop her EP Solitude on August 14. She shared that all songs were recorded at home with four originals and one cover. Solitude follows her 2019 sophomore album Inspired by True Events.

She shared that she wrote and recorded all the songs from home during the ongoing coronavirus pandemic. The singer shared a statement on her official website writing “in some ways, it felt like I was going back to my roots, back when I would be in my room making songs and posting covers on YouTube.”

Tori Kelly first rose to stardom at just 14 years old. The singer began posting cover videos onto her YouTube channel and instantly gained a following. After being signed to manager Scooter Braun in 2014, she then signed a contract with Capitol Records and released her first album Unbreakable Smile. The album would debut at number two on the Billboard 200 and earning her a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

The singer also shared with fans a throwback to her YouTube days. Kelly released her own acoustic version of Drake’s song “Time Flies.” The rap song takes a lullaby turn, and this version will be featured on the upcoming EP.

Kelly explains that she had lots of fun creating this EP and is “excited to share this new chapter of my music.” You can pre-save Solitude on all music streaming platforms, and make sure to check out her cover of “Time Flies” on her YouTube channel.
